ইংরেজিতে কথা বলতে গিয়ে কি কখনো আটকে গেছেন? মনে হয়েছে কীভাবে শুরু করবেন? শুধু “I think…” বলেই কি সব মতামত দেন? তাহলে আজকের পোস্ট আপনার জন্যই। আমরা শিখব ১৮টি সাবলীল ও স্বাভাবিক Sentence Starter, যা আপনার ইংরেজিকে দেবে গতি, আত্মবিশ্বাস ও প্রাঞ্জলতা।
✨ Sentence Starter কী?
Sentence starter হলো নির্দিষ্ট কিছু শব্দগুচ্ছ বা বাক্যাংশ যা দিয়ে আপনি বাক্য শুরু করেন এবং আপনার বক্তব্যের দিকনির্দেশ করেন। যেমন: The problem is…, It depends on…, If you ask me…। এগুলো একবার রপ্ত করতে পারলে আপনার ইংরেজি হঠাৎ করেই অনেক বেশি ন্যাচারাল শোনাবে।
আজ আমরা পাঁচ ধরনের স্টার্টার শিখব:
- মতামত দেওয়া (Giving your opinion)
- অনিশ্চয়তা প্রকাশ (Showing uncertainty)
- কোনো পয়েন্ট জোর দিয়ে বলা (Highlighting a point)
- প্রসঙ্গ বদলানো (Changing the topic)
- প্রসঙ্গ জুড়ে মসৃণ সংযোগ (Connecting topics smoothly)
এবং সবশেষে দেব আমার ব্যক্তিগত সবচেয়ে প্রিয় একটি স্টার্টার। চলুন শুরু করি।
🗣️ ১. মতামত দেওয়ার স্টার্টার
সবাই I think জানে, কিন্তু একটু ভিন্নতা আনতেই পারে আপনার ইংরেজির মাত্রা। নিচের উদাহরণ দেখুন:

যখন ১০০% নিশ্চিত নন, তখন সরাসরি বলার বদলে এই স্টার্টারগুলো ব্যবহার করুন।

🔦 ৩. কোনো বিষয় জোর দিয়ে বলা
কোনো ভালো বা খারাপ দিক হাইলাইট করতে এই স্টার্টারগুলো দারুণ কাজের।
ইতিবাচক দিক (Positive points):

পরামর্শ: শুধু by the way-ই বারবার বলবেন না; anyway মেশান। ভারসাম্য রক্ষা হয়।
🔗 ৫. সম্পর্কিত প্রসঙ্গের মসৃণ সংযোগ
এটি একটু অ্যাডভান্সড স্কিল। আপনি যদি একটি প্রসঙ্গ থেকে স্বাভাবিকভাবে সম্পর্কিত আরেকটি প্রসঙ্গে যেতে পারেন, তাহলে আপনার ইংরেজি অনেক অভিজ্ঞ শোনাবে।
যখন আগের প্রসঙ্গের সাথে সরাসরি সম্পর্কিত:

- ধরুন কাজের কথা হচ্ছিল। আপনি জিজ্ঞেস করলেন: Speaking of work, did you finish the report?
- ভ্রমণের আলাপ থেকে: Speaking of travel, how was your trip to Seoul?
যখন হঠাৎ কিছু মনে পড়ল:
That reminds me,…
- Netflix সাবস্ক্রিপশন বাতিলের কথা বলতে বলতে: That reminds me, I need to cancel my flight.
- ইমেইল প্রসঙ্গ থেকে: That reminds me, I forgot to send that email.
এই ট্রিকটি ব্যবহার করলে আপনার কথোপকথন হবে পানির মতো গড়িয়ে পড়া।
🌟 জোশের ব্যক্তিগত ফেবারিট: “It depends on…”
আমার সবচেয়ে প্রিয় স্টার্টার হলো It depends on…। যখন একটি ফ্যাক্টর পুরো ফলাফল বদলে দিতে পারে, তখনই এটি ব্যবহার করবেন। আর এরপর একটি conditional sentence দিয়ে বক্তব্য সম্পূর্ণ করবেন।
গঠন: It depends on + factor. If…, then…
- What do you want to do on Saturday?
→ It depends on the weather. If it’s sunny, let’s go to the beach. But if it rains, we can stay home and watch a movie. - How long does it take to get home?
→ It depends on traffic. If traffic is light, about 20 minutes. If it’s heavy, up to an hour. - It depends on the situation.
- It depends on how busy I am.
- It depends on how much it costs.
- It depends on what you feel like eating.

৯. “The competition is open to everyone” — ইতিবাচক দিক হাইলাইট করুন।
