🔍 Embedded Question কী?
Embedded question হলো একটি প্রশ্ন যা আরেকটি বাক্যের ভেতরে গাঁথা থাকে। সেটি একটি সাধারণ বক্তব্য (statement) হতেও পারে, অথবা একটি প্রশ্ন (question)-ও হতে পারে।
উদাহরণ:
- I’m not sure where he is from. (সাধারণ বাক্যের ভেতরে প্রশ্ন।)
- Do you know what time it is? (প্রশ্নের ভেতরে প্রশ্ন।)
গঠনের দিক থেকে এগুলো Complex Sentence। প্রথম অংশ থাকে Introductory Phrase (মূল clause), আর দ্বিতীয় অংশ থাকে Embedded Question (subordinate clause), যেখানে প্রশ্নটি বিবৃতির মতো (statement word order) বসে।

🧱 মূল নিয়ম এক নজরে
সরাসরি প্রশ্নকে Embedded Question-এ বদলাতে তিনটি কাজ করতে হয়:
- Verb-কে স্থির করুন (statement word order): প্রশ্নের subject-এর পরে auxiliary বা verb বসান।
- Auxiliary ‘do/does/did’ সরিয়ে ফেলুন: Embedded question-এ এই auxiliary কখনো থাকে না।
- হ্যাঁ/না প্রশ্নে ‘if’ (বা formal-এ ‘whether’) বসান: Wh- প্রশ্নে Wh- শব্দটি বহাল থাকে।

১. Do/Does/Did-সহ Yes/No প্রশ্ন
সরাসরি: Does she work here?
Embedded: Do you happen to know if she works here?
রূপান্তরের ধাপ:
- Auxiliary ‘does’ সরান, ‘work’-এর সঙ্গে ‘s’ যোগ করে ‘works’ বানান (= statement word order)।
- Introductory phrase + if + বাকি অংশ।
