3. “Neither…nor…” কী? (What is Neither…nor…?)

“Neither…nor…” একটি correlative conjunction (জোড়া সংযোজক)। এটি দুটি Noun Phrase-এর কোনোটিই না বোঝায়। বাংলায় অর্থ “ও না… ও না”, “কোনোটিই না”।

Structure:

Neither + Noun Phrase1 + Nor + Noun Phrase2 + Verb

Important:

  • Verb সাধারণত কাছের Noun-এর সঙ্গে agree করে।
  • “Neither…nor…” নিজেই negative অর্থ প্রকাশ করে, তাই আলাদা “not” লাগে না।
  • দুইয়ের বেশি: “Neither red, nor blue, nor green.”

4. Positive, Negative, Interrogative এবং WH-Question (Grammatical Explanation)

4.1 Basic Structure Formula

Positive (with negative meaning): Neither + NP1 + Nor + NP2 + Verb + …
Example: Neither tea nor coffee is available.

Negative (double negative avoid): We don’t use “not” with neither…nor. It already has negative meaning.
To make opposite (positive), use “either…or…”: Either tea or coffee is available.

Interrogative: Is/Are/Do/Does/Did + neither NP1 nor NP2 + Verb? (rare)
Better: Do you like either tea or coffee? (not neither…nor)

But structure:
