1. ভূমিকা (Introduction)

প্রিয় শিক্ষার্থী, আজ আমরা ইংরেজি ব্যাকরণের দুটি খুব দরকারি শব্দ শিখব—“Though” এবং “Although”। এরা Contrast (বৈপরীত্য) বোঝায়। অর্থাৎ একটি ঘটনার সাথে অন্য একটি ঘটনা বিপরীত হলে আমরা এগুলো ব্যবহার করি। যেমন:

• Though it was raining, we went out. – যদিও বৃষ্টি হচ্ছিল, আমরা বাইরে গিয়েছিলাম।
• Although he was tired, he played football. – যদিও সে ক্লান্ত ছিল, সে ফুটবল খেলেছিল।
• She passed the exam though she was sick. – সে পরীক্ষায় পাস করেছে যদিও সে অসুস্থ ছিল।

2. শেখার লক্ষ্য (Learning Objectives)

3. Though & Although কী? (What are Though & Although?)

Though এবং Although হলো Conjunction (সংযোজক অব্যয়)। এরা দুটি Clause-কে যুক্ত করে এবং বৈপরীত্য (contrast) বোঝায়। বাংলায় অর্থ “যদিও, তবুও, সত্ত্বেও”।

Structure:

Though/Although + Subject + Verb, + Main Clause
Main Clause + though/although + Subject + Verb

Examples:

Though it was raining, we went out.	যদিও বৃষ্টি হচ্ছিল, আমরা বাইরে গিয়েছিলাম।
Although he was tired, he played football.	যদিও সে ক্লান্ত ছিল, সে ফুটবল খেলেছিল।
She passed the exam though she was sick.	সে পরীক্ষায় পাস করেছে যদিও সে অসুস্থ ছিল।
They came although it was late.	যদিও দেরি ছিল, তারা এসেছিল।

Important:

• Though ও Although একই অর্থে ব্যবহৃত হয়।
• Although একটু বেশি formal।
• Though বাক্যের শেষে adverb হিসেবেও বসতে পারে: “It was raining; we went out though.”
• Though/Although clause-এর আগে comma (,) ব্যবহার হয় যখন clause আগে আসে।

4. Positive, Negative, Interrogative এবং WH-Question (Grammatical Explanation)

4.1 Basic Structure Formula

Positive: Though/Although + Clause 1, + Clause 2 (Contrast)
Example: Though it was raining, we went out.

Negative: Though/Although + Clause 1, + Clause 2 (negative verb)
Example: Though it was raining, we did not stay home.

Interrogative: Did + Subject + Verb + though/although + …?
Example: Did you go out though it was raining?

WH-Question: Why + did + Subject + Verb + though/although + …?
Example: Why did you go out though it was raining?
