🌿 Hedging Language কী?
Hedging হলো এমন কিছু শব্দ বা বাক্যাংশ, যা আপনার বক্তব্যকে কম সরাসরি, সাবধানী ও ভদ্র করে তোলে। এর মাধ্যমে আপনি বোঝান যে আপনি ১০০% নিশ্চিত নন, অথবা কারও অনুভূতিতে আঘাত দিতে চান না।
কেন ব্যবহার করবেন?
- ভদ্র ও পেশাদার মনে হয়।
- রুঢ় বা অহংকারী শোনায় না।
- অনিশ্চয়তা প্রকাশ করা সহজ হয়।

১. মোডাল ভার্ব (Modal Verbs) দিয়ে নরম ভাষা

- Might: It might rain tomorrow.

(“This is a mistake” বলাটা খুব কড়া।) - Could: He could be the one who broke it.
(“He is the one”-এর চেয়ে অনেক নরম।) - Would: I would think this is enough.

২. অ্যাডভার্ব (Adverbs) দিয়ে সাবধানী ইংরেজি
সাবধানী অ্যাডভার্ব যুক্ত করলে বক্তব্য অনেক নরম হয়ে আসে।
- Probably: It’s probably the best option.
- Possibly: We’re possibly looking at a delay.
- Generally: This generally works well.
- Apparently: Apparently, she’s moving next week.
- Likely: It’s likely that he’ll say yes.
৩. বাক্যাংশ (Phrases) দিয়ে শিষ্টাচার
শুরুতেই কিছু নরম বাক্যাংশ বসিয়ে আপনি সরাসরি মন্তব্যকে অনেক ভদ্র বানাতে পারেন।

(“You entered the numbers wrong” ভদ্র নয়। “It is possible…” ব্যবহার করলে অভিযোগ নয়, বরং সম্ভাবনার কথা বলছেন।) - As far as I know, the meeting is still scheduled for 3:00 p.m.

৪. প্রশ্নে হেজিং — ভদ্র জিজ্ঞাসা
সরাসরি চাওয়া বা বলা না হয়ে প্রশ্নের আকারে বলাটাও নরম ভাষার একটি বড় কৌশল।
- Would you happen to have a pen I could borrow?
(“Can I borrow your pen?” থেকে অনেক বেশি মার্জিত।) - Could it be that we misunderstood the instructions?
(“We misunderstood” না বলে এই প্রশ্নটি দারুণ ভদ্র।) - Do you think it might be better to wait?
(মতামত চাওয়ার অসাধারণ উপায়।) - Is there a chance we made a mistake here?
(সরাসরি “We made a mistake” না বলে সম্ভাবনার কথা বলুন।) - Would it be possible to reschedule the meeting?
(“Can we reschedule?” বলাটা একটু কড়া। “Would it be possible…” শুনলেই সবাই খুশি।) - I was wondering if you could help me with this.
