🟩 Group 1: Have a Chip on Your Shoulder (মনে পুরোনো ক্ষোভ বা অভিমান পুষে রাখা)
অর্থ: অতীতের কোনো ঘটনা বা অবিচারের জন্য দীর্ঘদিন ধরে রাগ বা তিক্ততা মনে ধারণ করে রাখা, যার কারণে বর্তমান আচরণে তার ছাপ পড়ে।
Structure: have a chip on + possessive + shoulder (about something)
মনে রাখবেন: কথিত আছে, পুরোনো আমেরিকায় কেউ লড়াই করতে চাইলে তার কাঁধে কাঠের টুকরো (chip) রেখে প্রতিপক্ষকে সেটা ফেলে দিতে চ্যালেঞ্জ করত—তাই এটি স্থায়ী ক্ষোভের প্রতীক।

অর্থ: নিজের স্বার্থ রক্ষা বা দোষ এড়ানোর জন্য ইচ্ছাকৃতভাবে কোনো বন্ধু, সহকর্মী বা দলের লোকের ওপর দোষ চাপিয়ে তাকে বিপদে ফেলা।
Structure: throw + someone + under the bus
মনে রাখবেন: এটি একটি নিষ্ঠুর রূপক—যেন কাউকে চলন্ত বাসের সামনে ছুঁড়ে ফেলে নিজে বেঁচে যাওয়া।

অর্থ: কোনো সমস্যা সমাধানের সব চেষ্টা করেও ব্যর্থ হয়ে এতটাই হতাশ ও ক্লান্ত হয়ে পড়া যে আর কী করা উচিত তা বোঝা যাচ্ছে না।
Structure: be at + possessive + wits’ end
মনে রাখবেন: “wits” মানে বুদ্ধি বা মানসিক ক্ষমতা; তার শেষ মানে আর কোনো বুদ্ধি খরচ করার ক্ষমতা নেই।

অর্থ: কোনো লক্ষ্য অর্জন বা কোনো সমস্যা সমাধানের জন্য সর্বাত্মক চেষ্টা করা; একটি সম্ভাবনাও বাদ না দিয়ে সবকিছু পুঙ্খানুপুঙ্খভাবে খতিয়ে দেখা।
Structure: leave no stone unturned (in + noun / gerund)
মনে রাখবেন: প্রাচীন গ্রিক কিংবদন্তি থেকে—যুদ্ধজয়ের পর শত্রু লুকিয়ে আছে কি না দেখতে প্রতিটি পাথর উল্টিয়ে দেখা হতো।

মনে রাখবেন: “skin” এখানে নিজের অংশীদারত্ব বোঝায়। যার নিজের কিছু হারানোর থাকে, সে বেশি সতর্ক ও নিষ্ঠাবান হয়।
